DRAMA: From head to toe

On January, my group (Alba and Laura) and me, will present to our classmates the story-based unit that we have create for the Eric Carle book "From head to toe".

We have chosen to represent in class the activities we think that will be more atractive for them, so they will have to do different things such as: singing, dancing, mimics, making a puzzle, colouring and classifying.

We hope they will enjoy them! 

DRAMA: The Kangaroo from Woolloomoollo

The 1st of December, my group (formed by Alba de Julio, Laura Pinheiro and me) presented to our fellows the story-based unit called "The Kangaroo from Woolloomoollo".

DRAMA: Puppets Workshop

I have really enjoyed this workshop, we have learnt how to create different kind of puppets and they are all quite simple so we could prepare them with small children. 

We started with our first puppet and I decided to create a minion from the movie "Gru". Here you can see the process:

We continue creating a shock puppet:

And then I decided to create a pig shadow puppet. This kind of puppets can stimulate children creativity and they are really easy to do. You just need pencils, card and paper, scissors, glue, thin sticks and drawings from the characters of the story. Here you can see my pig and how to use it as a shadow puppet:

To finish, I created an origami puppet. This one is the easiest to do, you just have to fold the paper in half several times and then you have to put your fingers in it and make your puppet talk.

For my own I have decided to create a face on a finger, and here is the result:

THE SELFISH GIANT

Día Universal del Niño

Se cumplen 25 años desde que el mundo prometiera a los niños que haríamos todo lo posible para proteger y promover sus derechos a sobrevivir y prosperar, a aprender y crecer, para que se hagan oír y alcancen su pleno potencial. A pesar de los avances generales, la situación de muchos niños ha empeorado aún más. Antiguas y nuevas dificultades se han combinado para privar a muchos pequeños de sus derechos y de los beneficios del desarrollo.

Para hacer frente a estos retos y llegar hasta los niños que han quedado más rezagados, necesitamos nuevas formas de pensar y actuar, tanto adultos como menores.

Hay mucho que celebrar en el 25º aniversario de la Convención, desde la disminución de la mortalidad infantil al aumento de la escolarización. Pero este hito histórico también debe servir como un recordatorio urgente de que aún queda mucho por hacer. Son demasiados los niños que todavía no gozan plenamente de sus derechos al igual que otros.

DRAMA: Making books

In our two last lessons, we have been learning how to make books.

We started creating pop-up books, as they are the more atractives for small children. Here you can see my results:

And we tried with different cuts and angles. I decided to create a ghost as Halloween is getting closer:

I have found this activity really interesting and useful, because it is a good way of making children to enjoy literature.

DIDÁCTICA: Design a listening activity

Pre-listening

1. I will enumerate the aliens from 1 to 9 and ask the childrens some questions: How many eyes has alien number 3? How many legs has alien 6?. With this kind of questions, they will review some vocabulary about the parts of the body.

2. I will ask the childrens one by one which alien they like most and why.

While-listening

1. Previously the children would have prepared some legs, arms and eyes made with newspapers and plasticines. They will make a circle and put inside all the legs, arms and eyes. I will call them one by one and tell them to transform to an alien following my instructions "You are going to be an alien with three legs, four eyes and six arms".

2. As they continue in the circle, this time I will call the children in small groups (from two to four) and with their own bodys they would have to create a single alien following once again my intructions.

Post-listening

1. To finish the activity, I will ask the children to draw an alien with the characteristics I would say. "Your alien would have 4 heads, 8 eyes, 4 arms and 3 legs".

2. I will give each children a piece of paper with the aliens picture. I will describe one of them and they would have to circle it. We can repeat this until all the aliens have been described.
